Homecoming Dance

I wasn't able to post some news because there was so much going on this month. I met a lot of people and made some friends at school, at parties and at different events like riverfloating, bowling, or mud volley ball and I really had a lot of fun so far!

Two weeks ago, the guys began to ask girls for the homecoming dance. Of course I really wanted to go there, so I started thinking of a way to ask a girl. (It is a tradition around here to ask in a funny way..) I finally got a pretty good idea: I made a lot of small notes (one with my name on it), put them into ballons and froze them into a huge ice block. It finally weithed more than 150 pounds which means I was unable to carry it on my own.. Then, I put a letter on top that said: It would be COOL if you would go to the homecoming dance with me BUT first, you have to find who I am.

Two days later, I got the bucket in which I made the ice block back: it was filled with popcorn (23 gallons of popcorn.. I still have half of the bucket left..) Hidden in the popcorn, there were small notes rolled in aluminium foil. After fifteen minutes digging in popcorn, we found the answer.
I finally had a date for the dance, so it was time to start planning what we wanted to do on the day date They usually go on a date the afternoon before the dance, and they actually never go alone on a date but always in a (dance) group. We had a really big group for this dance: eight couples.
We also had to order a corsage (kind of flower bracelet) which is a beautiful tradition, although it was quite expensive.

For our day date, we went to the zoo in Idaho Falls which was a pretty cool trip. We all had a lot of fun. After we got back, we went to one guys house where we had a barbecue and watched a disnay movie (which is normal for parties in Rexburg I've been told ;-) ). Around eight o'clock, we dropped of our dates at their home and went home, too, to get ready for the dance. There was an awesome story (probably my favourite story so far) with a skunk in it, but I won't tell the story at this point.
Anyways, about two hours later, we picked our dates up again to go to the actual dance. It was dance like in a disco but about every ten minutes, they played a slow song for classical couple dance which a complete new experience for me and pretty cool although I've never really learnd how to dance..
The dance ended at midnight. After we dropped everybody off, we got finally home. I was pretty tired after all.
